Beginning my search now for the fall, my son will be in AM kindergarten at Bowman. Looking for either an in-home daycare or possibly a center located in Lebanon that is on the am bus route. I need someone who will allow for a little flexibility with the schedule because we maintain shared parenting with my son and he spends approx. 40% of the time with his dad. Must be a non-smoking home and able to provide feedback or testimonials from other families. Anyone have any recommendations, trying to hopefully beat the rush before everyone is full. Thanks! Try to Remember that Lebanon made changes this year to the busing routes. Your child needs to be picked up and dropped off Monday through Friday at the same location no exceptions except for Wednesday afternoon when it’s early release.

#ConservationCorner: As Earth Day approaches, we want to share with you a wildlife trafficking crisis in Madagascar. On April 10, 10,976 critically endangered radiated tortoises were confiscated from a single residence in Toliara, Madagascar. In the days since the seizure, hundreds of tortoises had succumbed from dehydration, malnutrition and illness. The Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) is temporarily housing the remaining rescued tortoises at a secure facility as well as providing health evaluations, triage, hydration and food. The Columbus Zoo has supported TSA since 2002, and on April 13, 2018, the Zoo’s Conservation Management Committee voted unanimously to approve an Emergency Grant to the TSA in their efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these critically endangered reptiles. These privately-raised dollars will go towards helping the collective effort to provide dire care and treatment for these seized tortoises. See the video of the raid on the house containing the tortoises here: youtu.be/BFNqpVhw1kI?t=12m5s

In addition to the Columbus Zoo’s support, a number of facilities accredited by The Association of Zoos and Aquariums are providing aid to the rescue effort that the TSA is spearheading, including The Abilene Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Dallas Zoo, Dickerson Park Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, Fort Worth Zoo, New England Aquarium, Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden, San Diego Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, Tennessee Aquarium, Topeka Zoo, Tulsa Zoo, Utah's Hogle Zoo, Wildlife Conservation Society, Zoo Atlanta and Zoo Knoxville.

Congratulations to Safari Golf Club on being named a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Less than 2% of the 910 golf courses in Ohio and only 2.7% of the 33,000 golf courses worldwide have achieved this distinction from Audubon International.

In addition to the sustainability programs that resulted in the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation from Audubon International, Safari Golf Club supports the Columbus Zoo and The Wilds’ conservation initiatives. When patrons choose Safari Golf Club, they are making a positive impact on wildlife both locally and globally. Each of the 18 holes are also named after a species that benefits from some of the 70 conservation projects in 30 countries that the Columbus Zoo and The Wilds support annually. For more info or to book a tee time, please visit: safarigc.comGreat news! Safari Golf Club has achieved designation as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. We join less than 2% of the 910 golf courses in Ohio and only 2.7% of the 33,000 golf courses worldwide that have achieved this distinction from Audubon International.

Since 2013, up to six acres have been made “native areas” by removing invasive non-native vegetation and managing for or planting native species. There are expanded areas that are managed without chemicals or pesticides. All golf carts are electric, minimizing the carbon footprint. Additionally, Safari Golf Club has a butterfly garden that is used by monarchs during their annual migration. In 2017, 81 bluebirds and 147 purple martins fledged from nest boxes and rigs (artificial nest cavities) constructed just outside the fairway. Safari Golf Club has fledged 563 purple martins and 452 bluebirds since the program began in 2008.

Managers at Safari Golf Club continue to work closely with partners, including Preservation Parks of Delaware County and NestWatch - Cornell Lab of Ornithology Ambassador, Darlene Sillick, who has monitored birds on the course for more than 25 years.

Thank you for supporting Safari Golf Club and in turn, when you choose to play at Safari Golf Club, you support the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and The Wilds' conservation initiatives. Each of the 18 holes are also named after a species that benefits from some of the 70 conservation projects in 30 countries that the Columbus Zoo and The Wilds support annually.
