*** Force and PCC Support Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day, 2018 ***

With this year’s CSE awareness day falling just weeks before the first anniversary of the introduction of a new offence – sexual communications with a child – Cleveland Police and the force’s Police and Crime Commissioner have reaffirmed their commitment to tackling CSE and safeguarding children and young people.

This year’s CSE awareness day falls on Sunday 18th March, and in April it is a year since anyone found targeting children through mobile phones or social media faces up to two years in prison - and being automatically placed on the sex offenders register.

The offence was introduced to fill a gap in existing legislation aimed at protecting youngsters. So far 11 males aged between 18-39-years-old have been arrested under the new offence.

PCC Barry Coppinger has provided funding for three Schools Liaison Officers whose remit includes teaching children, young people and their parents about online and personal safety among other subjects.

The PCC has also jointly commissioned pioneering research alongside the Big Lottery, examining the motivations and backgrounds of CSE offenders in the North East. The study will inform partnership response to protecting victims in the future and will be published later this month.

Mr Coppinger said: “Protecting and safeguarding children and young people – who are among our most vulnerable residents – is a priority for me. My office has been working with partner agencies to assess and understand any specific provision need locally.

“It is vital that police and professionals continue to work together to raise awareness and understanding of CSE so that all sections of the community can join us in tackling it.”

Detective Chief Inspector Wendy Tinkler from Cleveland Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit added:

“It is a criminal offence for anyone aged 18 or over to intentionally communicate with a child under 16, where the person acts for a sexual purpose.

“Most young children now have access to computers or own a mobile phone and regularly interact on social media platforms. Unfortunately this opens them up to those who prey on their innocence and trust and who will take opportunities to sexually exploit them.

“Children should be as safe on-line as they are off- line. This offence allows us to intervene at an earlier stage and effectively deal with anybody who sends sexual communication to a child before any sexual activity can occur.

“There are a range of offences available to deal with sexual communication but many do not automatically attract sex offender registration, however this offence does. Upon their release from custody this allows the police and our partner agencies to manage an offender and place restrictions upon them relevant to their offending behaviour. For example they must inform us of their place of residence, what access they have to any child under the age of 18 and all foreign travel.”

DCI Tinkler also appealed to parents to be vigilant and to be aware of what and who their children were engaging with online and to do all they could to keep them safe:

“These offenders are opportunists and will often target hundreds of children in order to receive a response. Be mindful of the images your children share on social media – have you checked their latest profile picture? Make sure that their profiles are secure and be aware of who can view them.”

No thanks, I would be filming the whole time and they would probably think that's suspicious behavior and wanna see my id for the constitutional protective activity deemed by the Supreme Court.

Looking good! Proud to be a civilian employee of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, great organization and a great group a people to work with!!

Thanks OSHP! Stay alert and safe please.

Best looking patrol vehicles in the country. Intimidating and sleek. Need a slick-top version of the Charger though.

Can we test drive any of them? ;)

Don't like the new charger. To round, where is the show Camaro?

I think the new vehicles are sharp and the new low profile flashers on top don't take away from the looks like the old ones did.👍

Love to go up and see it

I was just there!

Love them dodge chargers

Looks cool

Have fun and thank you for all you do!!!!!

Pretty so pretty

Ditch the hubcaps on the Chargers please. Black steelies would give them a sharper look.

Your tax dollars at work!! Sure don’t guard vulnerable areas of your city like schools and malls! Just sit around eating doughnuts in your car till you can find a tax payer to extort!!!!

Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Also driving is a privilege and not a right. So, you are subjected to certain things that would not be allowed in other areas. Like you can deny a police officer from entering your house without a warrant. But on the road you can be stopped for a infraction or safety check. So if you do not wish to submit to a sobriety check point. Sell your car, surrender your drivers license and start walking

Need probable cause to pull you over. Hang you're license, registration, & insurance out the window in a ziplock bag...

OK, who’s gonna be the first idiot to ask why they announce it?

Why is Ohio troopers doing it in West Virginia and not in Ohio

4th amendment ring a bell, pigs?

4th amendment? what 4th amendment?

Glad you get drinks off the roads, but are checkpoints constitutional?

Bahahah we ask because we’ve already lost the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th amendments.

Thank you troops, get those pie eyed killers off of our roads....

Sure tell them where it’s at!! Wtf Only in Ohio 🤪🤪🤪

Boo waste of tax payers money

Make that money!! Cops drive drunk all the time all you need is that nice license plate emblem that shows your a cop.

That's a smart thing to do tell them where you are so they can avoid it LOL

Good job troopers get all the. DUI

Hey to all the would be drunk driver there's always uber and lyft keeps the roads safe and most importantly prolong your life go and party Just make it home responsibly no excuses now and if u cant afford and uber or lyft stay home

This is unconstitutional AF.

if someone is stupid/ drunk enough to head into an announced checkpoint I dont want em on the road. t y officers; i assume it's not ur dream duty.

I like trampling on the Constitution too! Let's start a club

This is good we need more of them but not broad casted as to where they are going to be

That takes all the fun out of drinkin and drivin

Good luck from Cuyahoga Co. Be safe!

The electric pole on the right side, is now gone. The trees are larger, A nice sign in the front. The flag pole has been moved closer to the building. Awnings over the windows have been removed. & The grass is always greener on the other side..:)

Classic architecture never goes out of style.

My dad was stationed there for a while

The stair railings changed from mortar to steel. And it looks like they added a handicap ramp.

wow the 1937 photo looks like a post that didn't change much. must have been pretty modern building for 1937.......

The cars are newer in the top pic!

American Flag State of Ohio Flag , tower , trees on right, concrete Patrol sign, shrubs in front of Post, stair rail handle. A 1937 sky , Before WW2. Thanks You For Share.

Awnings over windows removed, Ohio State flag, new sign with nice landscaping. Tower was moved. Shame it took 74 years for improvements....lol

Fabulous cars in the 1937 photo.

More stars on the flag. What do I win?

Handi cap ramp at stairs, awnings gone

Steve Rine is now a lil older?

Awnings above the windows and flag pole location....fireplace stack

That building has been changed so many times it was hard to keep track of them. I started in 1960 and it was changed many times after that.

Front door has hand rails now and would kept the old sign

I’m sure the stairs are the same lol

Color 😂

Adam Reiss.

handicap ramps

The cell tower and only 1 flag on the pole

Stack's gone, as is the radio tower.

The large signage

Sign and green lawn.😁

A few.

I dont drink but the last person I know who was busted many years ago said it would have been cheaper to take a cab across country than all the money it cost him.

It's all about revenue people's safety means nothing to them

Sometimes pulling over an innocent citizen for fake marked lane violations is one too many. Doesnt matter how many drug busts you stumble on doing it. We have a Constitition that makes random stops and searches illegal. The end doesnt justify the means.

Not if your in the business of making money off of it's consumption! Drink up OSHP is banking their future on it.

I don`t get the buzzed driving is drunk driving. Both can`t be the same. You`re either buzzed or drunk. They`re not the same. Buzzed is Buzzed and Drunk is Drunk.

Sometimes? So basically you're saying sometimes its ok to have one and drive?

Not a problem for me I don't drink booze

That's not true

Ya if your a lightweight

Buzzed, drunk, sloshed, whatever... They're all subjective. The question is, are you impaired? Any amount of alcohol can impair your driving abilities! Designate, Uber or stay home and enjoy your beverages.

Well spending 25 years in the field of EMS never heard a dead person claim they where only buzzed and not drunk. So first Rule in EMS God protects fools and drunks. I have witnessed first hand the effects of so called buzzed drivers break down and cry cause they realized they killed someone. I have tagged and bagged teenagers who thought it was cool to go party and end up ruining there lives due to stupidity. Will we ever prevent another DUI or DUI related death? Sadly no that would be like demanding fat people stop eating at all you can eat buffets. Makes you all warm and fuzzy thinking how great it would be. But sadly we are dealing with mankind and Mankind can be idiots

on the seldom occasion I enjoy an adult beverage, I do it at home or have my non drinking wife drive us home. Murder is not something I ever want to be charged with. Our youngest daughter is getting married over a holiday weekend this year, and we booked a room at the hotel where the reception will be held, so we can avoid the nighttime drunks on that holiday weekend. Drunks and people using their cell phones while driving are my biggest concerns when on the roads. They seem to be ubiquitous.

Buzzed is still going to inhibit your reaction time, decision making, vision, ect. If you're ok with killing or injuring innocent people because you can't drink respinsibly, then keep drinking.

Don’t drink and drive, thank God I don’t have that addiction anymore.

Much cheaper and SAFER to drink and celebrate at home!!!

Thanks to Uber and Lyft..... I can drink all I want!!!! Sappy paint hatricks everyone!!!

All the negativity here! Hope they are taking note of the names! LOL

I believe in public safety: However one single glass of beer in a 45min- one hour isn't going to make you impaired. That's a bunch of b.s. Just because an officer smells it doesn't justify him arresting you.

Drink is the devil...best waterboy voice I got...aha

On behalf of Action Fraud ...

False claims of Telephone Preference Service:

Fraudsters are cold-calling victims, falsely stating that they are calling from one of the well-known UK telecommunication service providers. They call victims claiming to provide a ‘Telephone Preference Service’ - an enhanced call-barring service, which includes barring international call centres.

The fraudsters ask victims to confirm/provide their bank account details, informing them that there is a one-off charge for the service. Victims instead see monthly debits deducted from their accounts, which they have not authorised. The fraudsters often target elderly victims.

In all instances, direct debits are set up without following proper procedure. The victim is not sent written confirmation of the direct debit instruction, which is supposed to be sent within three days.

On occasions when victims attempted to call back, the telephone number provided by the fraudster was either unable to be reached or the victim’s direct debit cancellation request was refused.

Protect yourself:

• There is only one Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The TPS is the only official UK 'do-not-call' register for opting out of live telesales calls. It is FREE to sign-up to the register. TPS never charge for registration. You can register for this service at www.tpsonline.org.uk.
• You will receive postal confirmation of genuine direct debits. If you notice unauthorised payments leaving your account, you should contact your bank promptly.
• Always be wary of providing personal information, or confirming that personal information the caller already claims to hold is correct. Always be certain that you know who you talking to. If in doubt hang up immediately.
• If you have been affected by this, or any other type of fraud, report it to Action Fraud by visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.

Can I say I have had a few calls from people saying they are from CAB and I owe money and have had loans I never told them anything told them to stop calling me,

Reported this years ago to police.... my poor mam in her eighties was plagued daily by this firm asking for credit card details! They didnt stop no matter how many times we gave them a warning and that theyd been reported to the police!
